My favorite art
of the world tour so far is Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations
The Minoans and
Mycenaean civilizations both lived in present-day Greece
The Minoans
based their civilization on the island of Crete and the Mycenaean’s on mainland
Greece.
The
Minoans
Minoans
were named after King Minos
The Minoans were
primarily a seafaring people. Their power was mostly trade
They appear to
have been content to stay on the island of Crete
They were good at
building friendly relationships with other people which helped them because
they gained trust with lots of people and therefore could have easier trading.
While they did have a military, they seem to have used it sparingly
The
Minoans used a system called Linear A, a mostly syllabic script that contains
about 75 symbols
The
Mycenaean’s
The Mycenaean’s, on the other hand, regularly expanded their
territory through military force. They maintained a large force that they used
to conquer almost all of Greece. They forced conquered peoples to pay a tribute
system which helped to further fund their territorial pursuits.
The Mycenaean’s where a harsher and yet more powerful people
Mycenaean’s
used a language called Linear B, which consisted of 87 different signs and
symbols that represented an idea or concept.
