Essay 2 Of The Ron Paul Course History 6

ESSAY 2

My favorite art of the world tour so far is Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations
The Minoans and Mycenaean civilizations both lived in present-day Greece
The Minoans based their civilization on the island of Crete and the Mycenaean’s on mainland Greece.

The Minoans
Minoans were named after King Minos
The Minoans were primarily a seafaring people. Their power was mostly trade
They appear to have been content to stay on the island of Crete
They were good at building friendly relationships with other people which helped them because they gained trust with lots of people and therefore could have easier trading. While they did have a military, they seem to have used it sparingly
The Minoans used a system called Linear A, a mostly syllabic script that contains about 75 symbols

The Mycenaean’s
The Mycenaean’s, on the other hand, regularly expanded their territory through military force. They maintained a large force that they used to conquer almost all of Greece. They forced conquered peoples to pay a tribute system which helped to further fund their territorial pursuits.
The Mycenaean’s where a harsher and yet more powerful people
Mycenaean’s used a language called Linear B, which consisted of 87 different signs and symbols that represented an idea or concept.

Essay 1 Of The Ron Paul Course History 6

ESSAY 1

POV. You are a 30 year old female who has just seen her first glimpse of the city of Babylon

As I neared Babylon a large building in the middle of the city seemed to keep getting taller and taller. When I arrived the building seemed taller than ever and seemed to almost touch the sky. When I asked the leader of my people what the building was he replied, “That tower is to be the biggest tower that the world has ever seen, it will reach heaven, where we can see the world from the top”. After a few days most of my people had a job helping the men carry bricks up the side of the building or helping to bake the bricks. My job was to carry water from the river flowing about a half mile away to the women making bricks. One day as I was resting on the bank of the river there was a large commotion and all of a sudden I heard words that sounded like gibberish! At first I thought someone must have gone crazy but I soon realized that everyone was extremely upset, confused, and most of the people spoke differently then me. When I ran back and asked the leader what was wrong he started to speak but I could not understand what he was saying. I finally found a woman that spoke the same as me and asked what was going on. She had no idea except that her people all spoke differently. Together we found a group of people (around 500 total) and stayed together until the time came to move away from the city. We moved to a flat empty part of Iran. We spent about 3 hours packing up and then started to move. We took with us; 100 camels, 126 donkeys, and about 300 goats, sheep, and birds. So half of us had to walk and make sure the small animals didn’t get away. We would take turns riding on the donkeys and camels but by the time we reached our destination we were all very tired and our feet where in terrible shape as most of our shoes had little coverage. A few weeks later we had made our home in a small valley. Our people broke into groups of about 100 so it was easier to find a place to stay. The valley we were in was perfect for our few sheep and goats and the ridge above us was great hunting land. My people and I will stay here for many years to come.
